Pastor's Passion For Ministry Pastor Steve is passionate to lead a congregation of believers in Jesus Christ who worship and pray often, who are intentional in their pursuit of spiritual knowledge and faith growth, who live and show their thanksgiving to God by returning to Him a portion of all He has given, who demonstrate Christ-like love and care for others, and who do all possible with their spiritual gifts to show and tell others about God's love in Jesus Christ. Pastor's Background Steven R. Heinsen was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on May 28, 1969 and was raised in Ankeny, Iowa. He received a Bachelor's Degree in Vocal Music Education from Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa, in May of 1992. He then attended Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, Missouri, graduating with a Masters of Divinity in May of 1996. While at Concordia Seminary, he served his field education at Transfiguration Lutheran Church in the inner city of St. Louis. His vicarage was served at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Sebewaing, Michigan in August in 1994 - July 1995. Upon returning from vicarage, he served as Director of Music at Glendale Lutheran Church in Glendale, Missouri for one year. His first call was to Grace Lutheran Church in Wood River, Nebraska, where he served from July 1996 - December 1999. He then accepted a call to Christ Lutheran Church in Norfolk, Nebraska, to serve as their Youth and Family Pastor. He served at Christ, Norfolk from December 1999 - September 2005. He also taught Vocal Music at Lutheran High Northeast in Norfolk, Nebraska in the spring semester of 2002 and has substitute instructed in the areas of Music and Theology at that school. Pastor Heinsen also served on the Worship Planning Committee for the 2003 Nebraska District Youth Gathering, and has received Stephen Ministry Leadership training and Christ Care Equipped training. He accepted the call to serve as the Senior Pastor at Calvary Lutheran Church in Lincoln, Nebraska in October 2005 and looks forward to sharing the joy and hope of God's Word with the congregation and community. He is single, and enjoys working with computers, hiking in the mountains (when he makes it to the Rockies), singing, and spending time with young people (whether in age or young at heart) and watching their faith grow and prosper.
