Historical Timeline of Calvary Lutheran Church

Years of Blessing's Since 1928.

In 1943, the Martin Luther Seminary building was purchased as a site for the Chrisian Day School; remodeling of the seminary involved approximately 10,000 hours of donated labor. When the school at 28th and Sumner was finally dedicated on October 21, 1945, the enrollment had grown to fifty-five students in grades one through nine. In addition to the purchase of the seminary itself, property at 2793 Sumner was purchased for a parsonage.

Along with the purchase of the new site for the day school came changes to its staff. In 1947, two years after the purchase of the day school's site, Mr. Vahl was released to Ft. Wayne, Indiana and Mr. Elmer E. Meinke was named his successor. A third teacher was added to the school's staff.
